College can be stressful. Trying to balance everything from school work to maintaining a social life, fitness, sports, extracurriculars, and much more can feel overwhelming. It’s important to remember you’re not alone, and thousands of students are feeling the exact same way. Today is World Mental Health Day, and a reminder for students to slow down and take time for their health and well being.

Water Street Square’s mission behind our Luxury Student Apartments is creating a space where students feel safe, comfortable, and relaxed. With the everyday struggles college brings, we hope this can serve as a place where students can unwind and recharge. Continue reading to discover the benefits our apartments can bring to students mental health and well being while away at school.

Safe Space

Water Street Square apartments are located in a safe community, and at the center of life in Fredonia. We are walking distance away from everything a college student may need to get to – campus, shops, restaurants, and more.

This is the most ideal location a student would want to be in. Living far away from activity and campus can likely cause students to feel isolated and lonely. Our community provides an opportunity for students to live with their friends in their choice of a studio, one, two, three, or even four bedroom apartment. If you are new to Fredonia and haven’t met your friend group yet, Water Street Square is a growing community, and a chance to meet students that can turn into friends for a lifetime.

Connecting and spending time with friends can immensely help students happiness and mental health. Alone time is important, but too much time alone is unhealthy.  Our apartments provide a perfect balance of the two. Water Street Square bedrooms are private, providing students with a quiet outlet / escape when they need their space and alone time.

However, we designed an open layout for living rooms and common areas, so when students are in the mood to socialize, they can do so. Plus, we have big plans of expansion in the works! Our team is  currently working on transforming the third floor of 32 Water Street into Luxury Student Apartments. In addition to this, we are building a pavilion that will serve as a hang-out and club house for students to gather. Stay tuned for updates on this!

Comfortable

Apartments provide comfortable furniture including couches, chairs, tables, desks, and more. We also provide each apartment with a 65 inch Smart TV. After a long day, our apartments are a cozy escape from outside world stressors. As the temperature outside begins to drop, make sure to get some extra blankets to stay warm!

All utilities (water, gas, electric, and trash) are included in Water Street Square apartments. Our heating system has been recently installed and is up-to-speed, so you won’t have to worry about it breaking down on a freezing cold day.

When looking at other options for college housing in the area, you will find that the properties are older and run-down. Old windows can cause a home to feel very cold and drafty during the Fall and Winter season. At Water Street Square, you will not need to worry about this. Our apartments are brand new, with windows that won’t make your room feel 20 degrees colder. This way, you’ll be able to stay warm and sleep comfortably!

Relaxed

Besides watching TV with friends, there are various ways to help you relax. Taking a break from technology and unplugging from the digital world is a very healthy way to connect better with your mind. Here’s how you can achieve this:

  • Go for a walk outside – Nature and moving the body in any way has incredible benefits towards one’s mental health
  • Read a Book – Select a book that isn’t school-related, but a genre you enjoy and genuinely are interested in
  • Write / Draw / Paint  Write, color, paint, do a craft, etc.. These are all great ways to exercise your mind in a healthy and creative way.
  • Play a game with your roommates – Playing a card or board game with your roommates is a fun switch up from the usual things you do while hanging out (scrolling through tik-tok). Once and awhile try something different and play a fun game with each other.
  • Bake or Cook – Cook or bake a new recipe you’ve never tried before.
  • Yoga / Workout – Invest in a yoga mat so you can workout anywhere. At home workouts make it easy to fit some quick movement into your busy schedule. If you do have time to go to the gym, do it! The gym is a great outlet to release stress and clear your mind.
